In an interview with Brila FM, Sodje stressed the importance of results in evaluating coaches, noting George’s failure to meet expectations. “Our objective is World Cup qualification, and with our current trajectory, we’re falling short,” Sodje remarked. “This issue transcends Finidi George; it’s about the national team’s ambitions.”
While acknowledging the contentious nature of dismissing a coach, Sodje suggested it might be necessary for Nigeria’s footballing aspirations. “Considering the circumstances, removing him might be a necessary step towards securing our World Cup berth,” he asserted.
