In a recent statement, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, emphasized that Nigeria’s current infrastructure investments fall short of addressing the country’s pressing needs. During an interactive session at the National Assembly with the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Bagudu highlighted the challenges stemming from under-investment in critical multi-dimensional infrastructure.
The session was convened to discuss the ₦6.2 trillion supplementary appropriation approved for the 2024 budget, a request initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The approval includes ₦3.2 trillion earmarked for major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, the Sokoto-Badagry highway, and the Trans-Sahara highway.
