In a tragic and shocking event, Blaise Felix Aliyu, a 15-year-old student at Air Force Comprehensive School in Kaduna, was allegedly killed by two senior students on June 19, 2024. The incident took place within the dormitory of the Air Force Base in Mando, Kaduna.
Felix, an Assistant Headboy and Junior Secondary School 2 (JSS2) student, was reportedly summoned by two Senior Secondary School 3 (SS3) students who had recently completed their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams and were awaiting their National Examinations Council (NECO) results. The senior students allegedly tortured Felix with an electric iron, leading to his death. Initial reports suggested accidental electrocution while ironing clothes, but further investigation indicated it was a deliberate act.
An anonymous official from the Air Force Base confirmed these details, noting that the two SS3 students had been arrested. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Felix’s death.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), which manages the school, has expressed profound sorrow over the incident. Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, NAF’s spokesperson, issued a statement on June 24, 2024, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive investigation. “The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, and the entire NAF family are saddened by the painful and unfortunate incident of the untimely death of one of our students at Air Force Secondary School, Kaduna,” Gabkwet stated. “To avoid all sorts of speculations, a thorough investigation is currently ongoing to unravel how, why, and what actually led to the death of the victim.”
