Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote has once again been crowned as the richest man in Africa, maintaining his remarkable position for the twelfth consecutive year, according to the latest Forbes ranking. Dangote, who serves as the President of the Pan-African Conglomerate, the Dangote Group, holds a dominant stake in Dangote Cement Plc, Africa’s leading cement producer.
Forbes’ annual report, titled “Forbes 2023 Index: Dangote Still Africa’s richest for 12th consecutive year,” reveals that Dangote’s estimated net worth has soared to $14.2 billion, a significant increase from last year’s $12.1 billion. Notably, he is the sole Nigerian to secure a spot among the world’s top 200 wealthiest individuals.
Previously in June, South African entrepreneur Johann Rupert momentarily clinched the title of Africa’s richest person with a net worth of $12 billion, as reported by Forbes Magazine. However, the latest Forbes ranking reinstates Dangote’s indisputable supremacy in terms of wealth accumulation.
The report elucidates that challenging market conditions, characterized by declining stocks, struggling startups, and surging interest rates, had a notable impact on the net worth of the world’s richest people. Nevertheless, Dangote stands firm at the 124th position on the global billionaires’ list, a testament to his extraordinary financial accomplishments.

The Africa’s richest man is renowned for establishing and chairing Dangote Cement, which boasts the largest cement production capacity on the continent. With a staggering annual output of 51.6 million tonnes, the company operates across ten countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. It encompasses integrated factories in seven nations, a clinker grinding plant in Cameroon, and import and distribution facilities in Ghana and Sierra Leone.
Dangote’s unwavering dominance in Africa’s business landscape showcases his exceptional entrepreneurial skills and strategic investments. His continued success not only solidifies his own legacy but also contributes to the economic development of the African continent as a whole.
