
The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) has announced the commencement of applications for the 2025 MEST AI Startup Program. The program is focused on training and supporting early-stage artificial intelligence (AI) ventures from West Africa.

Program Structure
The MEST AI Startup Program is a fully funded, seven-month training initiative based in Accra, Ghana. The program includes:
- Technical instruction in AI product development
- Business training focused on startup operations
- Mentorship from industry experts
- Pitch preparation for funding opportunities
After the training phase, selected startups will enter a four-month incubation period. During this phase, participants can present their business ideas to investors for potential pre-seed funding of up to $100,000.
Program Objectives
The initiative is designed to equip participants with technical and business skills required to build AI-focused companies. It aims to increase the number of scalable AI ventures in West Africa by providing structured education, tools, and investment access.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Based in West Africa
- Possess a technical background or experience building technology solutions
- Have a startup or idea using artificial intelligence in any sector
- Willing to attend the program physically in Ghana for seven months
