Renowned astronomer Mohammad Odeh has released a chart predicting the visibility of the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal, which is set to appear on April 20, 2023.
According to the chart, the crescent moon will not be visible from places marked in red, as it will either set before sunset or form after sunset. However, areas marked in blue and magenta can expect to see the crescent moon through binoculars, and even with the naked eye if weather conditions are favorable and the moon seeker is skilled. Meanwhile, areas marked in green can expect to see the crescent moon without the aid of binoculars.

It is important to note that searching for the new moon is an act of worship in Islam and a way to earn rewards in the eyes of God. It is also a practice that is in line with the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who emphasized the importance of physically seeing the crescent moon rather than relying on calculations alone.
As such, Muslim communities around the world will be eagerly searching for the Shawwal crescent moon on April 20, 2023, in the hopes of marking the beginning of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
