In a recent statement from Atiku Abubakar’s media office, the former Vice President’s name change from Siddiq to Atiku Abubakar has been reaffirmed as well-documented, in response to accusations made by the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). These allegations were perceived as an attempt to divert attention from the allegations against President Bola Tinubu.
Paul Ibe, Atiku’s Media Adviser, clarified that Atiku’s name change is backed by a 1973 affidavit, spanning 50 years. He emphasized that all the names Atiku bears are traceable to his family tree, asserting their legitimacy.
Furthermore, Ibe accused Tinubu of forging and lying about various aspects of his life, including his heritage, name, date of birth, education, certificates, and work experience. He also mentioned the exposure of Tinubu’s records at Chicago State University and a court-ordered deposition in the United States, indicating a more extensive issue at hand.
Ibe emphasized, “The attempt by Bola A. Tinubu to drag Atiku Abubakar into his drowning arena of forgery must be seen for what it is: an attempt to minimize the allegations of forgeries that he has to contend with.”

Additionally, Ibe alleged that Tinubu secured university admission through impersonation. Notably, handlers of Tinubu added the middle name “Adekunle” to his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate on Wikipedia, raising questions about the veracity of his claims.
In light of these developments, it is crucial to ensure a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations against both Atiku and Tinubu. The focus should remain on uncovering the truth rather than diverting attention through political mudslinging. This ongoing saga highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in Nigerian politics.
