Mansur Ahmadu, a resident of the affected community, described the invasion as a serious situation, recounting the loss of a woman’s life during the bandits’ incursion. The attack occurred amidst the night, adding to the challenges faced by the local residents.

Kabiru Dauda, the representative for Gada-East constituency in the state House of Assembly, received a distress call around 2 am, prompting him to engage local government authorities and security agencies. Dauda assured that measures were being taken to address the situation.

The Sokoto State Police Command, through its spokesman ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, confirmed the deployment of a team to assess the situation. Rufa’i assured that the command was actively involved, with updates promised as the investigation progresses.

Efforts to reach the state governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, Col Ahmed Usman (retd.), proved unsuccessful, but a top government official, speaking anonymously, acknowledged the attack. The official reassured the public that the government would spare no effort in ensuring the safe return of the abducted students.

This distressing incident follows closely on the heels of the abduction of over 280 pupils and teachers at Government Secondary School and LEA primary school in Kuriga, Kaduna State, just days prior. The surge in such attacks is sparking national outrage, prompting increased calls for urgent and effective measures to safeguard educational institutions and students.
