Bandits Strike: Mosque Attacked, Worshipers Kidnapped in Zamfara

In a distressing incident, armed bandits targeted a mosque in Tsafe town, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The assailants, arriving on motorcycles which they left at the town’s outskirts, disguised themselves in native attire to avoid detection as they entered the town.

According to Abubakar Tsafe, a resident of the town, the bandits surrounded the mosque and kidnapped an unspecified number of worshipers. The perpetrators strategically concealed their mode of arrival by dressing in traditional attire (Baba-riga) to blend in with the locals.

In response to the attack, members of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards, also known as Askarawa, have been mobilized to rescue the abducted victims. However, as of the time of reporting, the Commander of the state Community Protection Guards, Retired Colonel Rabiu Yandoto, was unavailable for confirmation as he was in a meeting.

Efforts to obtain information from the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, proved unsuccessful, as he did not respond to numerous phone calls made for updates on the situation.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in Zamfara State, with armed bandits employing tactics such as disguises and strategic planning to carry out their criminal activities. The deployment of community protection forces underscores the collaborative efforts to counteract these threats and ensure the safety of residents.
