The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially commenced nationwide recruitment into four major paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior. Thousands of applicants have already begun submitting entries for roles in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
However, one question is on the minds of many Nigerians: “Which of these jobs pays the most, and what position should I apply for based on my qualification?”
This report outlines the most financially rewarding positions available in the 2025 recruitment exercise, based on current salary structures — and highlights which roles offer the best long-term career prospects.
Most Lucrative Position: Medical Doctors in the Correctional Service
Medical professionals are the top earners in this recruitment drive. If you have an MBBS and a valid medical license, applying as a Superintendent of Corrections in the NCoS puts you on the CONMESS 2 scale, which starts from ₦380,000 monthly — and could exceed ₦500,000 when allowances are added.
These positions are not only well-paid but often come with:
Early access to promotion
Professional development support
Medical-specific risk allowances
Legal and Engineering Graduates Also Earn High
Graduates with qualifications in:
Law (LL.B + BL)
Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Water Resources) can apply for Assistant Superintendent I (CONPASS 09).
This is the highest non-medical cadre in the current recruitment and offers a salary range of ₦210,000 to ₦250,000 monthly, with opportunities for career growth, leadership roles, and technical assignments.
Nurses and Midwives Fall Under Health Salary Structure (CONHESS)
Qualified and registered Nurses or Midwives will be placed on the Inspector cadre under CONHESS 06, with a competitive starting salary of about ₦150,000 to ₦180,000 per month. These roles are needed across all four agencies, especially the NCoS and NSCDC.
ND and NCE Holders Still Have Strong Options
Those with National Diploma (ND) or National Certificate in Education (NCE) are eligible for the Assistant Inspector position under CONPASS 06. These candidates can expect a salary of ₦120,000 to ₦140,000 per month, with room for promotion through in-service training.
SSCE Applicants: Still Valuable, But Lower in Pay
Candidates applying with SSCE results will be placed under:
CONPASS 04 if they have 5 credits – ₦90,000 – ₦110,000
CONPASS 03 if they have 4 credits – ₦70,000 – ₦85,000
These are entry-level roles that often come with physically intensive duties such as field patrol, station security, or fire emergency response.
