Borussia Dortmund Star Karim Adeyemi Commissions Boreholes to Transform Ibadan Communities

Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi has reinforced his commitment to social impact by commissioning three boreholes in Ibadan, Nigeria. The initiative, part of his visit to his ancestral roots, was executed under the banner of the Karim Adeyemi Foundation.

The boreholes were inaugurated at Ojuolape Mosque in Oje Market, Gbenku Community in Ibadan Northeast Ward 6, and Temidire Community in Oje. These projects aim to address the long-standing water challenges faced by residents in these areas.

Speaking about the initiative, Barrister Olamide Idowu, Director of Strategic Planning for the Karim Adeyemi Foundation, highlighted that the boreholes are part of a broader empowerment program. He also revealed that the foundation has been providing scholarships to students and assured the public of more impactful projects in the coming year.

During the ceremony, Chief Soliu Ayinde, the Babaloja of Oje, expressed his gratitude for Adeyemi’s efforts to uplift his hometown. “We are proud of Karim Adeyemi for addressing one of our key needs. These boreholes will provide significant relief, and we pray for the continued success of the Karim Adeyemi Foundation,” he said. He also encouraged other footballers to emulate Adeyemi’s commitment to giving back to their communities.

Similarly, Alhaja Oluwakemi Akala, the Iyaloja of Oje Market and Ibadan North, praised the initiative, noting its significance for traders and residents. “This is a remarkable development for our market. These boreholes will greatly benefit everyone who fetches water here. It is a noteworthy achievement during my tenure,” she remarked.

Community members, including Kalifa Abulfatai Olalekan of Temidire, also shared their excitement. “Water is life, and this initiative has arrived at the perfect time. It is a welcome development for our community,” he said.

Karim Adeyemi was accompanied by his parents, members of the Karim Adeyemi Foundation, and representatives from Germany. The event was also graced by prominent community and market leaders who celebrated the footballer’s impactful gesture.

This project marks another milestone in the Karim Adeyemi Foundation’s mission to empower communities and improve lives through targeted initiatives.
