Bukayo Saka, the talented Arsenal winger, has unfortunately had to withdraw from the England squad for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium due to an injury. Despite reporting for international duty, the 22-year-old has been unable to participate in training sessions. The Football Association confirmed that Saka arrived at St George’s Park earlier in the week carrying the injury and has since returned to Arsenal for further rehabilitation.
This setback comes as a blow to England manager Gareth Southgate, as Saka has been an integral part of the squad’s recent successes. With just two more matches scheduled after this international break before the start of Euro 2024, England will have to adapt without Saka for the time being.

Saka’s absence will be keenly felt, especially considering his impressive form for Arsenal this season. With the Gunners leading the Premier League table and facing a crucial Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich, his contribution has been invaluable. Having scored 16 goals, including 13 in the Premier League alone, Saka’s impact on his club’s performance has been significant.
On the international stage, Saka has also made a notable mark, earning accolades such as England men’s player of the year for two consecutive seasons. With 11 goals in 32 appearances for his country, including a memorable hat-trick in a Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia, his absence leaves a void in the England squad.
Despite Saka’s withdrawal, the England squad will continue their preparations for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium without further replacements planned, as confirmed by the FA statement.
