Enugu Rangers have emerged as the champions of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), securing their eighth league title with a 2-0 triumph over Bendel Insurance in their final home game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu. The victory, reported by PUNCH Sports Extra, ensured that Rangers clinched the title with one game to spare.
The Flying Antelopes’ first league title since 2016 was confirmed following the defeats of their closest rivals, Remo Stars and Enyimba, in other match-day 37 fixtures. Remo Stars fell 2-1 to Sunshine Stars in Akure, while Enyimba suffered a late 2-1 loss to relegation-threatened Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Entering the penultimate match-day with a two-point lead, Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side asserted their dominance early on. Kenechukwu Agu opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, and Chidiebere Nwobodo extended the lead in the 65th minute. Despite the comfortable lead, there were tense moments as Remo and Enyimba equalized in their respective games, briefly threatening to push the title decision to the final day.
However, late goals in both matches dashed the hopes of Remo Stars and Enyimba, solidifying Enugu Rangers’ position as the NPFL champions for the 2023/24 season.
