The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced a new timeline for the commencement of training and empowerment activities under the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP), signaling a major shift from planning to full implementation.
The announcement comes after months of nationwide registration, verification, and beneficiary onboarding for YEIDEP Batch A, a programme aimed at equipping young Nigerians with practical skills before the release of any form of financial support.

FG Emphasises Training Before Disbursement
Government officials explained that the programme is intentionally structured to prioritise capacity building and economic readiness, rather than immediate cash distribution. Beneficiaries are expected to complete mandatory training and empowerment sessions before gaining access to financial support.
According to the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, the extended preparation period was deliberate and strategic.
He stated that the government focused on careful planning, stakeholder coordination, and proper verification of beneficiaries to ensure transparency and long-term success. He added that the goal is to prepare youths to utilise empowerment opportunities productively and sustainably.
Implementation Enters Impact Phase
The Minister further disclosed that the programme has now entered its impact delivery phase, beginning with structured training sessions designed to strengthen beneficiaries’ skills and economic participation.

This phase, officials noted, represents a transition from administrative groundwork to real empowerment outcomes, ensuring that enrolled youths are fully prepared for the opportunities ahead.
Banks Take Central Role in Empowerment Process
Providing further insight, the Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Youth and Sports Development, Sani Musa Denja, revealed that the implementation process is being carried out in stages, with commercial banks playing a key role.
He disclosed that several banks have already completed the capture of hundreds of thousands — and in some cases over one million, youth beneficiaries nationwide. This collaboration, he said, is designed to strengthen financial inclusion, accountability, and smooth coordination ahead of empowerment and disbursement.
Why Training Comes First
Officials explained that the decision to begin with training is aimed at:
- Preventing misuse of funds
- Improving financial literacy
- Enhancing employability and entrepreneurship skills
- Ensuring long-term economic impact
They stressed that financial disbursement will only follow after beneficiaries successfully complete the required training programmes.
What Beneficiaries Should Expect Next
With the new date now announced, YEIDEP Batch A beneficiaries are advised to:
- Stay alert for official training notifications
- Ensure their bank and registration details are correct
- Prepare for mandatory empowerment activities
Authorities reassured participants that the phased rollout is designed to protect beneficiaries’ interests and deliver sustainable economic outcomes for Nigerian youths.
