Eligibility and Guidelines
The REC emphasized that individuals who have recently turned 18 years old are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He also issued a stern warning against underage registration and multiple registrations, stressing that both are serious criminal offenses that will be prosecuted accordingly.
“We will not condone underage or multiple registrations. It is a crime, and violators will face legal consequences,” said Dambo Sarkin Pawa.
He explained that over two million voters were registered in Kebbi State during the last electoral cycle in 2023, with more than 80 percent of PVCs already collected. However, a small number of voter cards remain unclaimed.
Who Should Register?
The new registration is specifically for:
- First-time eligible voters (18 years and above)
- Individuals with lost or mutilated PVCs
- Those who have relocated and wish to transfer their voting location
- Citizens seeking to update their personal information
INEC’s Preparedness
Sarkin Pawa assured the public that INEC is fully prepared to carry out a transparent and seamless registration process, both online and offline. He urged all eligible residents of Kebbi State to participate actively and avoid waiting until the deadline approaches.
This exercise is part of INEC’s broader nationwide voter registration drive aimed at increasing voter participation and ensuring credible elections in 2027.
