BREAKING: Kano Hisbah Commander General, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, Resigns

Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the Commander General of Kano’s Hisbah Board, has officially resigned from his position, pointing to alleged “discouragement” from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. In a video shared on social media, Daurawa expressed frustration over the governor’s comments despite his efforts to uphold societal morality through the Hisbah initiative.

Daurawa mentioned his ongoing efforts in Kaduna State to discuss the implementation of mandatory pre-marital health checks in Kano, similar to other Nigerian states. However, he faced discouraging remarks from Kano, undermining his attempts to promote moral values.

The resignation comes amidst Governor Yusuf’s dissatisfaction with Hisbah’s ‘Operation Kau da Badala,’ designed to combat immorality and enforce sanity in line with Islamic principles. Governor Yusuf criticized the board’s modus operandi, citing a video that disturbed him, showing individuals being picked up and treated harshly.

Hisbah, known for its raids at public places across Kano, faced scrutiny as Governor Yusuf called for a reevaluation of the board’s approach. He emphasized the need for agencies like Hisbah to guide youth on righteous paths without resorting to excessive force.
