Kano State, one of Nigeria’s most populous and politically significant regions, has been placed under a 24-hour curfew following a landmark judgment by the State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal. The tribunal’s decision resulted in the removal of Abba Kabir Yusuf from his position as the state governor.

The tribunal’s verdict, which declared Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 election, sent shockwaves through the state.
