The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) examinations.
A total of 29,260 candidates participated in the examination this year, a significant rise from the 7,546 candidates who sat for the same exam in 2024. This 287.76% increase has been largely attributed to the introduction of a free tuition policy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Announcing the results in Benin City, NABTEB Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, revealed that 14,685 candidates, representing 61%, scored below 50%, while 9,389 candidates (39%) scored 50% and above. Only 316 candidates (1.31%) scored 70% and above.
Dr. Mohammed emphasized the importance of a transparent and merit-based selection process for admissions into Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs).
“It is crucial that we identify and admit students who are best-suited to benefit from our training offerings. A fair and merit-based process will set students up for long-term success and enhance the reputation of NABTEB,” he said.
Students are advised to check their results via the official NABTEB portal and proceed to collect their admission letters from their assigned colleges without delay.
Free Tuition Boosts Interest in Technical Education
Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, represented by Dr. Muyibat Olodo, Director of Technology and Science Education, said the spike in enrollment was due to increased awareness and the removal of financial barriers.
“The free tuition initiative is already transforming public perception about Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Society is beginning to value vocational education as a pathway to real opportunity,” he stated.
He added that the management and supervision of FTCs has now been officially transferred to the Department of Technology and Science Education, as part of broader reforms to promote skills acquisition and industrial growth.
Next Steps for Candidates
All successful candidates should:
- Visit the NABTEB portal to check their results.
- Collect their admission letters from their respective FTCs.
- Prepare for further screening and placement, if required.
The Federal Government’s ongoing push to revitalize technical education is expected to continue through increased funding, policy advocacy, and skill development programs across the country.
The release of the 2025 NABTEB TVET examination results marks a milestone in the government’s effort to reposition technical education in Nigeria. With more students now embracing vocational paths and free tuition driving massive participation, the future looks promising for Nigeria’s skilled workforce.
