In response to the prevailing food crisis in Nigeria, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a significant initiative to distribute seized food items nationwide. The move comes as a response to the critical challenges of food security and the soaring costs of essential food items in the country. The National Public Relations Officer, CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, revealed that the food items will be distributed after thorough certification to ensure they are fit for human consumption.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, Abdullahi Maiwada emphasized the Customs Service’s commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians and improving access to essential food items. The distribution process will be executed with a focus on transparency, fairness, and public safety. The NCS plans to communicate the modalities for the disposal through its formations nationwide.
