BREAKING: NIMC Restores NIN Verification Nationwide, Launches New App to Modify Personal Data Instantly

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has officially restored National Identification Number (NIN) verification services across the country following the successful completion of critical system maintenance. This development comes as a major relief to millions of Nigerians and institutions that rely on NIN validation for essential services.

In an official statement released on Friday, the Commission confirmed that all previously disrupted services have been fully restored.

According to the statement, “NIMC wishes to inform the general public that the recent technical maintenance has been completed and all services have been restored.”

As part of the Commission’s renewed efforts to enhance identity management and citizen access to services, NIMC also unveiled a new digital solution the NINAuth mobile app (oath.app) which allows Nigerians to verify and modify their NIN data directly from their mobile phones.

The new app is now available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. It enables users to instantly correct or update personal information such as names, dates of birth, and other identity-related records without needing to visit NIMC offices physically.

The Commission also encouraged Nigerians to make use of its online self-service portal, available via its official website, to access services including enrollment center locators, data modification, and NIN verification.

Over the past week, various service providers including banks, telecom operators, and government agencies experienced significant operational delays due to the temporary suspension of NIN verification services. These disruptions impacted processes such as SIM registration, BVN-NIN linking, and access to certain public benefits.

NIMC has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their patience and cooperation during the system downtime.

To enroll for a new NIN or locate the nearest NIMC center, individuals are advised to visit www.nimc.gov.ng.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to enhancing national digital identity systems, promoting easier access to essential services, and reducing the burden of manual processes.

With the restoration of services and the introduction of the NameAuth app, NIMC aims to strengthen Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and improve efficiency in identity management.

Key Features of the NIMC NameAuth App:

  • Verify your NIN instantly
  • Modify personal data such as name and date of birth
  • Secure authentication with real-time access
  • Available for download on Google Play and Apple App Store

Nigerians are urged to take advantage of these new tools to avoid delays and ensure their data is accurate and up-to-date.
