The National Population Commission (NPC) has announced the postponement of the Local Government Area (LGA)-level training for census supervisors and enumerators, which was originally scheduled to commence on April 13th, 2023. In a statement released by the Director of Public Affairs, Isiaka Yahaya, Ph.D, the NPC cited “emerging issues” as the reason for the postponement.
The NPC, however, assured the public that it remains committed to conducting a credible and acceptable 2023 Population and Housing Census, and that all preparations are in top gear. The commission also advised the public to disregard any message contrary to this information.

The postponement of the LGA-level training is a setback in the NPC’s preparations for the upcoming census, which is a crucial exercise for planning and development in Nigeria. The new date for the training is yet to be communicated to the public.
