In a sudden and decisive move, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has issued a directive for the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council. The governor has also relieved all Commissioners, along with other officials appointed by the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, of their duties.
A statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Ebenezer Adeniyan, conveyed the urgency of the decision, instructing all affected cabinet members to promptly hand over their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices. Additionally, officials were directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.

This swift action comes just a month after Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office as the substantive governor following the unfortunate demise of Governor Akeredolu. The former deputy governor, who successfully thwarted an impeachment attempt during Akeredolu’s illness, seems determined to make significant changes in the state’s leadership structure.
The termination of appointments is expected to clear the way for Governor Aiyedatiwa to assemble his own team, aligned with his vision for the state’s development. The governor expressed gratitude to the outgoing officials for their services and contributions.
