Opposition Party Takes Swift Action Against Chairman Amidst Internal Strife
In a surprising turn of events, the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has suspended its state chairman, Fatai Adams, citing allegations of anti-party activities. The decision was made by nine members of the State Working Committee, as outlined in a suspension letter signed by key party figures.
The signatories of the suspension letter include the deputy state chairman, Tola Alabere; state secretary, Oluseye Olujimi; state organizing secretary, Dare Akinwale; vice chairman (South), James Fadope; and vice chairman central, Hon. Dayo Awude. Other officials who endorsed the suspension are Moses Awofade, legal adviser; financial secretary, Bolueaji Bamidele; treasurer, Mrs. Olubunmi Fasonu; and state publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei.

The suspension, as per the statement, is grounded in Section 58(1b. c, f. h. and i) of the PDP Constitution, amended in 2017. The committee accuses Adams of engaging in activities deemed detrimental to the party’s image and falling under the category of anti-party conduct.
The suspension letter reads, “He is accordingly advised to appear before the State Disciplinary Committee of the party for further interrogations within the next one week.”
The PDP, in its official statement, asserted its commitment to dealing decisively with any perceived interference by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in its internal affairs.
