Eyewitnesses and officials from the institution confirmed the unfortunate incident. The palliatives distribution initiative stemmed from Governor Abdullahi Sule’s commitment to supporting students amidst economic hardships. The government had begun distributing rice and financial assistance to students across various educational institutions within the state capital, Lafia, with plans to extend aid to institutions outside the capital city.

Despite the government’s efforts, the distribution event at NSUK turned chaotic as students overwhelmed the security measures in place, resulting in a stampede. The influx of students led to a breach in security, causing panic and chaos as individuals struggled to access the distributed items.

In the aftermath of the stampede, emergency response teams rushed to provide medical assistance to the injured students. The National President of the Students Association, alongside other officials, coordinated efforts to ensure that those affected received prompt medical attention.

The stampede at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, serves as a sobering reminder of the challenges faced by communities during times of crisis. While government initiatives aim to provide relief, the unfortunate incident underscores the need for meticulous planning and robust security measures to prevent tragedies.
