BREAKING: Zamfara Governor Approves Recruitment of 2,000 Teachers

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the recruitment of 2,000 teachers to improve the quality of education in the state.

The announcement was made during an Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Gusau. According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the recruitment aligns with Governor Lawal’s campaign promise to prioritize education.

The spokesperson highlighted that education is the administration’s second priority and has already received significant attention, yielding positive outcomes.

Earlier, on November 14, 2023, Governor Lawal declared a state of emergency in the education sector to address its challenges. As part of this effort, the state government has undertaken the following initiatives:

During the council meeting, Governor Lawal emphasized that the recruitment would begin in phases to ensure transparency and focus on critical areas.

“In the first quarter of 2025, we will employ 500 qualified teachers. Emphasis will be placed on critical subjects such as English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, ICT, and Entrepreneurship Studies,” he stated.

The recruitment is part of the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program. This initiative aims to address the challenges in the education sector and improve teaching quality in schools across Zamfara State.

Governor Lawal reiterated his commitment to transforming the education sector, ensuring a better learning environment for students, and promoting professionalism among teachers.

This development is expected to significantly enhance the state’s education system and provide better opportunities for students to excel academically.
