NDLEA Arrests 42-Year-Old Man Supplying Drugs to Terrorists in Borno

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully disrupted a drug supply network linked to insurgents in Borno State, resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old man, Ahmad Mohammed. This significant operation is part of a broader crackdown on illicit drug trafficking by the NDLEA, with 24 suspected traffickers and dealers recently apprehended.

Mohammed was apprehended on Friday, February 9th, at a checkpoint in Borno State, where 20,000 capsules of tramadol were discovered in his possession. The suspect was reportedly en route to deliver the opioid consignment to insurgents in Banki, a border region between Nigeria and Cameroon.

In a separate development, NDLEA operatives intercepted a truck transporting 4,037 kilograms of cannabis sativa from Akure, Ondo State, to Shabu area of Lafia. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the cannabis seizure, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to tackling drug-related crimes across the country.

The NDLEA continued its operations, uncovering more drug trafficking activities. In Abuja, operatives arrested individuals transporting compressed cannabis sativa concealed in a truck. The agency also highlighted successful operations in Owo, Ondo State, and Sapele Road in Edo State, where significant quantities of illicit substances were seized.

The statement from the NDLEA disclosed that the arrests extended to Kano, Anambra, and Lagos, showcasing the agency’s nationwide efforts to curb drug trafficking. Notably, a six-month pregnant woman and another lady were among six suspects arrested in Anambra for dealing in illicit substances.

In Lagos, two ladies were arrested during raids on Saturday, February 10th. The suspects, along with others, were apprehended in possession of cannabis, codeine syrup, and psychotropic substances.

These operations underscore the NDLEA’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and disrupting networks that contribute to security challenges. The agency continues to work diligently to maintain public safety and uphold the rule of law.
