In a decisive ruling, the Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal lodged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Mohammed Ashiru Isa, solidifying Uba Sani’s position as the Governor of Kaduna State.
The court of appeal in Abuja had previously upheld Uba Sani’s victory on November 24, 2023, in a unanimous judgment. The PDP and Ashiru contested the March 18 gubernatorial election results, alleging irregularities, corrupt practices, and non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022.

Justice Tijani Abubakar, in the lead judgment, categorically stated that the appellant presented nothing substantial to warrant the court’s intervention. He deemed the appeal “vexatious, frivolous, and lacking merit,” aligning with the lower courts’ decisions.
This verdict not only reaffirms Uba Sani’s electoral triumph but also serves as a testament to the robustness of the electoral process. The judiciary’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring fair electoral practices is evident in this landmark decision.
