BREAKING:Supreme Court Reserves Judgment in Sokoto Gubernatorial Appeal

In a pivotal legal development, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has chosen to withhold its judgment on the appeal brought forth by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Saidu Umar, challenging the election victory of Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The five-member panel, presided over by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, deliberated on the matter after hearing arguments from all parties involved.

This comes in the wake of the Court of Appeal in Abuja upholding Aliyu’s triumph in the March 18, 2023 governorship election. Umar and the PDP, however, contend that Aliyu and his deputy, Idris Gobir, were ineligible to participate in the gubernatorial poll.
