In a recent announcement, Alhaji Abdul-Samad Rabiu, the Chairman of the BUA Group, has reiterated the company’s commitment to selling cement at N3,500 per bag starting from January 2024. The statement was made during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Thursday, December 28.
Rabiu emphasized that the set price includes the ex-factory cost plus VAT, with additional charges for delivery depending on the distance and location of the customer. BUA Group operates cement factories in Edo and Sokoto states, and the upcoming Sokoto location, scheduled to open in January 2024, is expected to significantly impact the market nationwide.

“We intend to keep that promise,” Rabiu affirmed, highlighting the importance of transparency in pricing and expressing confidence in addressing any challenges that may arise. The anticipated production volumes from the new Sokoto plant are projected to be approximately six million tonnes per annum, contributing to meeting the growing demand for cement across the country.
Rabiu also expressed his satisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s Christmas and New Year celebrations, describing the visit as enjoyable. “It is always quite good to see them when they are relaxed, and I am pleased to say that His Excellency looked very relaxed, well-rested, and also in good spirits,” he added.
