Controversial Kano TikToker Murja Ibrahim Kunya has been granted bail by a Kano State High Court under the leadership of Justice Nasiru Saminu. The bail amount was set at N500,000.00 and required two reliable sureties, one being a relative and the other possessing landed property in Kano municipality of Kano State.
The need for bail arose from a directive issued by a Kano Shari’ah Court, which mandated a psychiatric evaluation for Murja Kunya by a qualified medical professional. Considering the impending Easter break and Murja’s time in custody since February 20, 2024, Justice Saminu found it appropriate to grant bail.

As part of the bail conditions, Justice Saminu ordered the court registry to verify the sureties’ property. Additionally, Murja Kunya has been restricted from using social media until the conclusion of the case, with a warning of re-arrest and court appearance for any violation.
Furthermore, Justice Saminu has called for the involvement of various stakeholders in the upcoming proceedings, including the defendant’s counsel, the State’s Attorney General, representatives from the Hisbah Board, and the Commissioner of Police. This aims to address potential amendments to the Kano State Hisbah Board law, ensuring fair adjudication in the case.
