Cristiano Ronaldo offered return to Sporting CP amid deportation controversy in Saudi Arabia

Al Nassr Player, Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, has reportedly received an offer to return to Sporting CP following a recent controversy that has led to calls for his deportation. During a league game on April 18, Ronaldo made an obscene gesture towards Al-Hilal fans who were taunting him throughout the match. The incident sparked outrage among some who called for his deportation, and a lawyer has vowed to submit a petition to authorities.

According to reports, Ronaldo is unhappy at Al-Nassr and is open to a change of scenery. Sporting CP has submitted an offer for him to return to the club where he made his mark in professional football. Ronaldo joined Sporting CP’s youth academy in 1997 and made 31 appearances for them across competitions before leaving for Manchester United in 2003.

Ronaldo’s performance in the recent game against Al-Hilal was disappointing, with the Al-Nassr captain failing to get any of his four attempted shots on target and creating no goalscoring chances. He played the full 90 minutes but managed just 15 passes, showcasing how he was marked out of the game. Despite this, Ronaldo’s contract as a player with Al-Nassr doesn’t expire until the summer of 2025.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Ronaldo in Riyadh, but the possibility of a return to Sporting CP may be an attractive option for the Portuguese icon.
