Dangote Thanks Tinubu and Others as Refinery Begins Production

A momentous occasion unfolded as Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, expressed his gratitude to key figures, notably President Bola Tinubu, for their instrumental roles in the initiation of diesel and aviation fuel production at the Dangote refinery. The commencement of production, a significant milestone for Nigeria, occurred on Friday, highlighting the nation’s capability in executing large-scale projects.

In a statement released on Saturday, Dangote specifically acknowledged President Bola Tinubu, recognizing his visionary leadership and prompt attention to detail as pivotal factors in realizing the project. “We thank President Bola Tinubu for his support and for making our dream come true. This production, as witnessed today, would not have been possible without his visionary leadership,” stated Dangote.

Originally slated for production initiation in June 2023, the Dangote refinery garnered support from key entities such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited), the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Dangote extended gratitude to these organizations, emphasizing their role as dependable partners in the historic journey.

Expressing appreciation for the support received from Nigerians, Dangote stated, “We also thank Nigerians for their belief and support in this project. We have started the production of diesel and aviation fuel, and the products will be in the market within this month once we receive regulatory approvals.”

Describing the occasion as a “big day for Nigeria,” Dangote conveyed his fulfillment with the project’s realization, deeming it a game-changer for the country. He also thanked bankers, financiers, the Government of Lagos State led by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, host communities, traditional leaders, and the dedicated staff for their patience and contributions to the success of the project.

The journey to the commencement of production at the Dangote refinery was not without its challenges. However, collaborative efforts and unwavering perseverance have positioned the project as a testament to Nigeria’s capability to execute transformative initiatives.
