EFCC Arrests TikTok Influencer Murja Kunya Over Alleged Naira Abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended popular TikTok influencer Murja Ibrahim Kunya in Kano over allegations of misusing the Nigerian currency, the naira.

Sources within the anti-graft agency revealed to Kano-based Freedom Radio that the social media personality was taken into custody over the weekend, with investigations currently underway.

“The investigation is ongoing, and upon completion, she will face prosecution in court,” a source from the EFCC stated.

Murja Kunya, known for her controversial content on TikTok under the username Yagayagamen, has gained significant online attention. What started as a hobby eventually became her full-time career, but her videos have often sparked debates and legal scrutiny, leading to previous legal troubles in Kano State.

Her arrest aligns with the EFCC’s recent crackdown on social media influencers accused of currency abuse. Other TikTok personalities, such as Al’amin G-Fresh and Ashir Idris, have also been detained on similar charges.

Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of respecting Nigeria’s currency, warning that violations could result in legal consequences.
