Eid-el-Maulud: Governor Bala Mohammed Urges Bauchi Residents to Promote Peace

As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has called on residents to use the occasion as a time for reflection, peace, and unity. In a statement issued through the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor encouraged Muslims to embrace the virtues of the Prophet and pray for sustained peace across the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Promoting Peace and Unity

Governor Mohammed highlighted the importance of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect among Bauchi residents, regardless of ethnic, religious, or political differences. He emphasized that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) preached honesty, humility, patience, and generosity—virtues that everyone, regardless of their faith, should embody in their daily lives.

The governor’s statement reads, “Eid-el-Maulud should be used for sober reflection and self-evaluation to assess how well we have related with our Creator and fellow human beings over the past year and to make amends where necessary.” He urged Muslims to make peace and unity their priority as they celebrate the birth of the Prophet.

Prayers for Security and Economic Stability

Governor Mohammed also took the opportunity to ask the Muslim community to pray for the restoration of peace in regions across Nigeria facing security challenges. As a “responsive and responsible government,” he reassured the public that Bauchi State will continue to collaborate with security agencies to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety of lives and property.

Acknowledging the current economic hardships many Nigerians are facing, he called for prayers for divine intervention. “While the government is doing everything possible to mitigate the hardship, I appeal to you all to use the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud to pray for the intervention of Allah (SWT) to bring an end to this calamity,” he said.

Appeal Against Flood Disasters

In light of recent flood disasters affecting several parts of Nigeria, including neighboring Borno State, Governor Mohammed extended his sympathy to the victims and urged the people of Bauchi State to pray that such disasters do not affect their region. He emphasized the state’s proactive measures and commitment to safeguarding residents from natural calamities.

Commitment to Law and Order

Reiterating the government’s dedication to maintaining peace and order, Governor Mohammed stated that his administration would not tolerate any actions that threaten the stability of the state. “The government will not condone any act capable of causing discord and disorder. Any person or group involved in such acts under any guise will be dealt with according to the law,” he warned.

The governor appealed for the continued cooperation of Bauchi residents to sustain and improve the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

Conclusion

As Bauchi State joins the global Muslim community in celebrating Eid-el-Maulud, Governor Bala Mohammed’s message emphasizes the importance of peace, unity, and reflection. His call for prayers for security, economic stability, and protection from natural disasters underscores the significance of this occasion in fostering a more harmonious society.
