The BATN Foundation, in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has launched the “Farmers for the Future” (F4F) Grant—an innovative initiative aimed at empowering young Nigerian agripreneurs. With a total grant pool of N10 million, the F4F program provides equity-free capital, comprehensive training, mentorship, and support to help scale promising agri-business ventures among youth.
This grant targets current NYSC members, aiming to make agriculture more attractive to the youth, reduce unemployment, and foster economic development through sustainable agriculture. The initiative is part of BATN Foundation’s broader commitment to youth engagement in Nigeria’s agricultural sector, ensuring participants are equipped with essential skills for long-term success in the agribusiness value chain.
During a recent visit, the BATN Foundation team, led by General Manager Mr. Oludare Odusanya, met with the new Director of Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), Mr. Sunday Robert Aroni, to discuss further collaboration opportunities. The meeting underscored the importance of this partnership in driving youth empowerment through sustainable agricultural practices.
Mr. Odusanya emphasized the significance of the program, stating, “Our collaboration with NYSC is pivotal in our mission to empower Nigerian youth. By providing them with the necessary skills and resources, we are creating job creators and securing the future of Nigeria’s agriculture.”
The F4F curriculum is designed to provide aspiring and emerging agripreneurs with essential insights and knowledge to explore diverse market opportunities and develop structured business models. The intensive curriculum covers areas such as:
- Entrepreneurship Mindset
- Design Thinking and Innovation
- Business Plan Development
- Marketing and Digital Strategy
- Financial Literacy
- Business Pitch Skills
Participants in the program stand a chance to win a share of the N10 million grant, providing the capital needed to turn innovative ideas into successful agri-business ventures. The program, supported by the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation, is offered at no cost to those who successfully pass the application process, covering all course expenses and offering post-program assistance.
Interested NYSC members can apply through the BATN Foundation Mobile app, available on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store. Applications open on August 26th, 2024, offering a unique opportunity for young agripreneurs to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s agricultural future.
