In a commendable effort to give back to society, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has partnered with the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation to provide free eye surgeries and treatments to 450 patients in Kebbi State. This initiative, part of FCMB’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, underscores the bank’s commitment to community service and sustainable development.
The announcement was made by the Group Head of Corporate Affairs at FCMB, Mr. Diran Olojo, during a Community Outreach event titled “Priceless Gift of Sight Program.” The event, held at FCMB’s premises in Birnin Kebbi, marked the 15th anniversary of the bank’s partnership with the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation.
Mr. Olojo revealed that over the past 15 years, more than 200,000 patients have benefitted from the collaborative efforts between FCMB and the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation. Beneficiaries of this initiative were selected from all 21 local government areas of Kebbi State and neighboring regions.

Highlighting the bank’s ongoing commitment to social welfare, Mr. Olojo noted that since 2009, FCMB has organized similar programs across various states in Nigeria. These initiatives have reached over 400,000 Nigerians, offering free eye testing, optical services, surgeries, glasses, and comprehensive eye disease management. The states that have benefitted from this initiative include Cross River, Ogun, Imo, Abuja, Katsina, Adamawa, and Kebbi.
Mr. Olojo emphasized that FCMB’s CSR philosophy is deeply rooted in poverty alleviation, economic empowerment, and environmental sustainability. He added that the “Priceless Gift of Sight Program” exemplifies the bank’s commitment to these principles, aiming to positively impact the communities in which the bank operates.
He expressed gratitude to the Kebbi State Government, led by Governor Nasir Idris, and other organizations, including the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation, for their invaluable contributions to the success of this program.
In her address, Hajiya Nafisa Nasiru Idris, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Yunusa Yauri, praised FCMB and the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation for their significant contribution to the well-being of underprivileged individuals affected by eye ailments in Kebbi State. She urged other banks and organizations to follow FCMB’s example by initiating similar health programs that cater to the needs of vulnerable populations.
This initiative not only highlights FCMB’s dedication to social responsibility but also sets a precedent for other organizations to contribute meaningfully to the health and well-being of Nigerians.
