Governor Bago emphasized, “Niger State has positioned itself as a pilot state, showcasing the dividends of democracy in agriculture. We are collaborating with the Federal Government to implement a mechanization process, and concurrently, kickstart the distribution of palliatives from the national grain reserves.”
Federal Government’s Commitment to Alleviate Food Costs
President Bola Tinubu’s directive on February 8 to release 42,000 metric tonnes of maize, millet, and other commodities from the national strategic reserves is a testament to the government’s dedication to mitigating the escalating food prices. This move was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, after a meeting of the Presidential Committee on Emergency Food Intervention.
