The Federal Government has officially begun the payment of ₦22,500 monthly stipend to beneficiaries of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, bringing relief to thousands of trainees across the country.
Verified trainees who have completed their registration, documentation, and physical verification have started receiving credit alerts from December 2. Many beneficiaries confirmed the development through their bank alerts and social media posts, especially on Facebook, where screenshots and testimonies of successful payments have been widely shared.
The stipend is being paid strictly to trainees who are fully approved on their dashboard, actively attending their training centres, and maintaining good attendance records. This confirms that the payment process is now tied closely to participation and compliance with programme requirements.

Payment Follows Concerns Over Delayed Stipend
The commencement of payment comes after growing concern over delays in previous months. The delays had begun to affect attendance at some training centres, as many trainees rely solely on the stipend to cover transportation and daily expenses.
Earlier, the House of Representatives member for Ojo Federal Constituency, Seyi Sowunmi, warned that delays in payment were discouraging beneficiaries. According to him, commitment from trainees cannot be sustained if the system fails to fulfil its own promises.
With the payment now in progress, attendance in several centres is expected to improve.
Concerns Over the Adequacy of the ₦22,500 Stipend
While beneficiaries have welcomed the payment, some trainees have expressed concern over the adequacy of the ₦22,500 stipend. Many depend on the money mainly for transportation to their training centres. Those who travel long distances say that after paying for transport, little is left for feeding, learning materials, or personal support.
Despite this concern, many beneficiaries still see the stipend as crucial support for staying active in the programme.
Important Notice for Applicants Still on “Pending” Status
Trainees who still see “Pending” on their TVET dashboard are not yet eligible for payment. Only those whose status has changed to “Approved” can receive the stipend.
Applicants with pending status are advised to:
- Ensure all required documents are correctly uploaded
- Complete physical verification if it has not been done
- Maintain regular attendance at their assigned centres
They are encouraged to keep checking their dashboard regularly for updates.

What This Payment Means for Nigerian Youth
The TVET programme is designed to equip Nigerian youths with practical vocational and technical skills that can lead to self-employment and long-term economic stability. The monthly stipend is meant to remove financial barriers that prevent trainees from attending their training consistently.
With the payment now underway, many beneficiaries see renewed hope that the programme is moving in the right direction.
