Federal Government Launches 3MTT NextGen Free Tech Skills Fellowship — Apply Now

The Federal Government has officially launched the 3MTT NextGen Fellowship, a new initiative designed to provide young Nigerians with free digital training, mentorship, and hands-on project experience. The programme is a special track under the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative and was announced by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani.

According to the ministry, the NextGen Fellowship is built to support exceptional young Nigerians who are passionate about building careers in technology. The Fellowship offers structured learning, real-world project exposure, and access to a national community of experts. It also aims to convert technical training into actual job opportunities across Nigeria’s fast-growing digital economy.

The programme is supported by the Airtel Africa Foundation as part of its ₦1 billion digital inclusion commitment. Through this partnership, applicants will receive free training and guided mentorship from top professionals across different technology fields.

Available skill tracks include software development, product management, cloud computing, UI/UX design, data science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Successful applicants will also gain access to project-based learning, a nationwide tech community, and career pathways linked to high-value digital jobs.

Applicants can register as a Fellow, an Applied Learning Cluster, or a Dev in Government, depending on their background and interest. The top performers will be selected for the exclusive NextGen cohort, which provides advanced learning and direct employment opportunities.

Interested young Nigerians can apply by following the steps below:

Step 1: Visit the official 3MTT application portal.
Step 2: Choose your preferred category — Fellow, Applied Learning Cluster, or Dev in Government.
Step 3: Fill in your personal details, educational background, and contact information.
Step 4: Select the digital skill track you want to learn.
Step 5: Submit your application and wait for the confirmation email.
Step 6: Shortlisted applicants will be invited to join the NextGen Fellowship training cohort.
