Federal Government Releases N50,000 Grant Beneficiaries List and Requirements

In a recent announcement, the Federal Government has disclosed crucial details about the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme (PCGS), a N50 billion initiative aimed at supporting over 1,000 nano businesses across Nigeria. Managed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, the grant seeks to empower eligible nano business owners, particularly women and youths, in each Local Government Area (LGA) and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Key Highlights:

  1. Grant Allocation: The PCGS allocates N50 billion to support nano businesses, including traders, food vendors, ICT enterprises, transporters, artisans, and creatives. The funds will be distributed to a minimum of 1,000 beneficiaries per LGA, emphasizing inclusivity and grassroots impact.
  2. Funds Disbursement: The Bank of Industry (BOI) will oversee the disbursement of three funds amounting to N200 billion. These funds, with a nine percent interest rate, encompass the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, the FGN MSME Intervention Fund, and the FGN Manufacturing Sector Fund.
  3. Targeted Sectors: The initiative focuses on various sectors, recognizing the pivotal role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the economy. Dr. Olasupo Olusi, the Managing Director/CEO of BOI, highlighted the significance of MSMEs and their contribution to economic growth.
  4. Eligibility Criteria: To qualify for the grant, nano business owners must meet specific criteria, including ownership of a nano business, willingness to register a business name, and commitment to hiring additional staff as business turnover increases. Beneficiaries must also provide proof of residence/business address, along with personal and bank account information for identity verification.
  5. Application Process: Applicants are required to meet the application submission deadline, emphasizing the need for timely participation in the scheme. The grant component is non-repayable, providing a significant boost to nano businesses without the burden of repayment.
