FG to Launch Electric Tricycle Empowerment Program for Nigerian Youths

The Federal Government of Nigeria is taking a bold step toward sustainable transportation and youth empowerment with the upcoming launch of the Electric Tricycle Empowerment Initiative.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with House of Destiny and NATOMORAS, aims to promote clean energy and create new economic opportunities for young Nigerians, particularly those engaged in the informal transport sector.

According to the ministry, the national launch event is scheduled to take place on November 26, 2025, at Eagle Square, Abuja, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Officials describe the project as part of the government’s broader effort to transition to green mobility while empowering Nigerian youths with modern, sustainable means of livelihood. The program will also support the country’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.

The Electric Tricycle Empowerment Initiative is expected to generate thousands of jobs across the country, as young entrepreneurs and drivers adopt electric-powered tricycles for commercial use.
