FG to Reform NYSC Scheme Modernizing the Mobilization Process for a Better Tomorrow

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau’ Ahmed, has emphasized the need for a collaborative effort to enhance the mobilization process for prospective corps members. Speaking at a meeting with heads of corps producing institutions, Ahmed highlighted the importance of direct involvement from chief executives of institutions to promote a deeper appreciation of issues and ensure desired results.

The meeting, which is a follow-up to a previous one with heads of corps producing institutions in West African countries, aims to evolve strategies for eliminating identified flaws and ensuring a more seamless mobilisation process. Ahmed identified obstacles such as the delegation of roles to subordinates and emphasized the need for chief executives to take an active role in the mobilization process.

The NYSC Director-General also reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to the security and general welfare of corps members. He appealed to corps producing institutions, parents, and the general public to complement efforts in sensitizing young graduates on call-up for national service. Ahmed emphasized the importance of avoiding night travels when reporting to states of deployment.
