Former President Muhammadu Buhari has provided an explanation for his absence from the caucus meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The party had scheduled the national caucus and national executive committee (NEC) meetings on August 2 and 3, respectively.
According to a statement by Garba Shehu, the spokesperson for Buhari, the former president conveyed his apologies for being unable to attend the meetings. He cited prior commitments as the reason for his unavailability during the crucial party gatherings.
Despite not being present in person, Buhari expressed his unwavering support and commitment to the APC. He wished the party’s leaders a productive meeting, emphasizing their crucial role in deciding issues of importance to both the party and the nation.
The absence of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was also noted during the events. Osinbajo tendered his apologies, stating that he was committed to various assignments outside the country.
The APC had previously announced the suspension of the planned national caucus and national NEC meetings. This decision came in the wake of the “resignation” of Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the party, respectively. The change in leadership necessitated the postponement of the meetings, as stated by Abubakar Kyari, the acting national chairman of the APC.

As the APC leaders gather at the Transcorp Hilton for the NEC summit, the party remains focused on addressing crucial issues that impact both its internal affairs and the nation at large.
