Scholarship Overview
The Global Laureate Scholarship provides $15,000 annually ($7,500 per semester) toward UNL tuition for up to four years, totaling $60,000. To maintain eligibility, recipients must enroll in at least 15 credit hours each fall and spring semester and uphold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years, contingent upon meeting these academic requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Global Laureate Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be international students (non-U.S. citizens)
- Gain admission to UNL as first-year or transfer undergraduate students
- Demonstrate exceptional academic performance
- Meet UNL’s English language proficiency requirements for unconditional admission
Application Process
There is no separate application for the Global Laureate Scholarship. All international applicants are automatically considered upon admission to UNL. To be eligible, students must
- Apply for admission to UNL
- Submit the enrollment deposit through MyRED
Important Deadlines
- Fall semester applicants: Must be admitted and submit the enrollment deposit by May 1
- Spring semester applicants: Must be admitted and submit the enrollment deposit by December 1
- English proficiency documentation deadlines: July 15 for fall, December 1 for spring
Renewal Requirements
To retain the scholarship, students must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
- Complete a minimum of 24 credit hours each academic year (fall and spring semesters)
Additional Information
The Global Laureate Scholarship is exclusively applicable to UNL tuition and cannot be transferred to other institutions within the University of Nebraska system. It does not cover non-credit courses or courses taken at other campuses. Recipients must remain nonresidents of Nebraska; establishing residency for in-state tuition purposes will result in the forfeiture of the scholarship.
