The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather alert warning of heavy to moderate rainfall across several states, with a potential risk of flooding, thunder, lightning, and strong winds.
In its high-impact forecast released on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the agency advised residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures to protect lives and property. NiMet warned that the expected rainfall could lead to flash flooding, riverine flooding, soil erosion, outbreaks of water-borne diseases, and damage to infrastructure such as roads and bridges.
