Gombe Student Wins International Quranic Recitation Competition in Jordan

In a remarkable display of skill and dedication, Hajara Ibrahim Dan’azumi, a 200-level botany student at Gombe State University, has achieved a significant milestone by emerging as the overall winner at the 18th edition of the Hashemite Jordan International Qur’anic Competition for Females. The competition, which took place in the Kingdom of Jordan from February 17 to 22, 2024, featured contestants from 39 countries competing in the 60 Hizb with Tajwid category.

Representing Nigeria on the global stage, Hajara Ibrahim, hailing from the Abubakar Siddiq Islamiyya Centre in Gombe, demonstrated exceptional talent and commitment to mastering the Qur’an. She secured an impressive score of 99.5, distinguishing herself as the top performer among participants from various nations.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Hajara Ibrahim, her family, and teachers. The governor commended her hard work and dedication, expressing confidence that her achievement would serve as an inspiration to countless others in Gombe and beyond.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the significance of supporting the educational pursuits of young people, particularly in the realm of religious studies.
