Google N75 Million SME Grant Application Opens: Apply Now

Google is extending a helping hand to Nigerian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with the launch of the Hustle Academy SMB Fund for 2023. This initiative aims to address the funding challenges that SMEs in Nigeria often encounter. With a total fund of N75 million, Google is offering significant support to 15 Nigerian SMEs, granting each of them N5 million in equity-free funding.

Nigeria’s SMEs play a crucial role in the nation’s economy, but they frequently grapple with hurdles, especially when it comes to securing essential funding. Google’s commitment to empowering and amplifying the ambitions of these entrepreneurial ventures is evident through the Hustle Academy SMB Fund.

Mojolaoluwa Aderemi-Makinde, Head of Brand & Reputation, Sub-Saharan Africa at Google, expressed the company’s optimism, stating, “The Hustle Academy Fund is a testament to the resilience and innovation of Nigerian small businesses, which form the backbone of our economy. We believe that this fund will further empower them to succeed, drive economic growth, and create jobs and opportunities for all Nigerians.”

The Hustle Academy SMB Fund offers more than just financial support. It provides mentorship, opportunities for increased visibility, and networking, all aimed at helping SMEs thrive in the digital age. Sinmisola Nojimu-Yusuf, Product Marketing Manager and the Hustle Academy Program Lead at Google, emphasized the company’s commitment to the Nigerian entrepreneurial ecosystem, with the Hustle Academy Fund playing a pivotal role.

To be eligible for the Hustle Academy SMB Fund, businesses must meet specific criteria. They should be Nigerian-founded, have been operating within Nigeria for 1-5 years, and possess a clear and scalable business plan. Additionally, they should demonstrate a commitment to growth, operate in sectors aligned with the digital economy, or have a digital enablement strategy. While not mandatory, previous participation in the Hustle Academy program is viewed as an added advantage.

The application window for this exciting opportunity is now open, starting from Friday, September 28, 2023, and will close on Thursday, October 12, 2023. SME owners who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply for a chance to secure a portion of the N75 million fund and elevate their businesses to new heights.
