Google Opens Applications for Startups AI Accelerator Africa: Apply Now

Google has announced the opening of applications for the 8th cohort of its Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program, with a strong focus on startups leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to drive innovation and economic growth across the continent.

The program, which has supported 106 startups from 17 African countries since its inception in 2018, offers a unique opportunity for startups to access mentorship, technical resources, and a global network of experts and investors. Selected startups will benefit from an equity-free $350,000 allocation in Google Cloud Credits, personalized guidance from Google AI experts, and connections to potential investors, partners, and customers.

Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startups Ecosystem, Africa at Google, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting African startups, stating, “We’re excited to support the next generation of African AI pioneers through the Google for Startups Accelerator, providing them with the resources and mentorship they need to build successful, impactful businesses.”

The Google for Startups Accelerator Africa is a three-month, equity-free virtual program that has already made a significant impact, with participating startups raising over $263 million and creating more than 2,800 direct jobs. The program is open to startups across Africa, and applications can be submitted until May 20, 2024.

This initiative is a testament to Google’s dedication to empowering innovation and economic growth in Africa, and we look forward to seeing the next generation of AI pioneers emerge from this program.
