Gov. Idris is Working Hard to Stop Street Begging in Kebbi – Commissioner

Gov. Idris Collaborates with Indonesia to Tackle Street Begging and Boost Livestock Development in Kebbi

In a strategic move aimed at addressing key societal challenges in Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris recently led a delegation to Indonesia, where they explored collaborative opportunities in education, livestock development, and Zakkat management. The team included top officials such as the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Arch. Sani Aliyu, alongside other government representatives.

Key Takeaways from the Visit

Zakkat Management:
The visit coincided with the World Zakkat Forum, a platform that brings together experts to discuss the collection, management, and distribution of Zakkat globally. Governor Idris aims to enhance Zakkat administration in Kebbi to better support vulnerable populations. Contrary to rumors, the trip was not about collecting Zakkat from Indonesia but to learn best practices in its management.

Livestock Development:
Indonesia’s expertise in artificial insemination and embryo transfer was a focal point of the trip. Earlier this year, two Veterinary Doctors from Kebbi underwent a month-long training in Indonesia on artificial insemination, a technique expected to boost cattle reproduction and milk production in the state. Plans are underway for further training on embryo transfer.

Almajiri System Reform:
The governor also explored Indonesia’s success in addressing the Almajiri challenge. The delegation visited schools where students, including abandoned children, are provided with education and vocational training. These institutions are community-managed and self-sustaining, ensuring no child roams the streets begging.

The Indonesian Ambassador is set to visit Kebbi State soon, further solidifying the partnership. This collaboration is expected to bring transformative changes, including skill transfers, improved livestock practices, and a revamped Almajiri education system.

Governor Idris remains committed to improving the standard of living in Kebbi, urging citizens to support his initiatives through understanding and prayers.
