Gov. Idris Pays Off Bills for Pilgrims' Sacrificial Rams (Hadaya)

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has fulfilled his commitment to settle the bills for sacrificial rams (Hadaya) for pilgrims performing the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. This announcement was made during his interaction with journalists at Mount Arafat, underscoring his administration’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of its citizens.

“We promised to assist our people, and with the power God has given us, we are fulfilling that promise,” Governor Idris stated.

The decision to cover these expenses came amidst logistical challenges and an increase in Hajj fares announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). The Kebbi State government allocated significant funds to settle more than 50% of the 2024 Hajj balance, enabling approximately 3,800 pilgrims from the state to participate in the pilgrimage.

Governor Idris also highlighted infrastructural enhancements, including the procurement of new buses to improve transportation between Hajj camps and Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi. These initiatives were implemented to enhance logistical efficiency and ensure a smooth Hajj experience for all participants.

Furthermore, Governor Idris commended Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, the Executive Chairman of the Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board, for his exemplary leadership and innovative approaches that have positively impacted the board’s operations. He urged the board members to maintain their dedication and strive for excellence, aiming to elevate the board’s standards not only within Nigeria but across Africa.

The governor’s proactive measures have been well-received among the pilgrims and within the state, reflecting his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens. As Kebbi State continues to progress, Governor Nasir Idris remains steadfast in his pursuit of inclusive governance and the advancement of the people’s welfare.
